Located in Healdsburg’s Dry Creek valley, Lake Sonoma is a highland reservoir that offers great Largemouth, Smallmouth & panfish opportunities.
The lake is divided between the Dry Creek valley and the Warm Springs valley; and both fish very well depending on the time of year.
Lake Sonoma’s steep, rocky shoreline makes it one of the best smallmouth fisheries in Northern California.

The Seasons:

Winter: December-February can be some of the most productive months on the lake if the correct approach is taken. The lake sees little boat traffic this time of year and makes for a fantastic winter trip.
Spring: March-May is the prime time to target large fish during pre/post spawn. Although the lake is busiest this time of year, exceptional fishing can occur all around the lake.
Tackle: On Lake Sonoma we use 5-6wt fly rods with full floating lines or intermediate slow sinking for subsurface presentations.

Meet location:

Lake Sonoma Trips depart from Lake Sonoma Resort Area, there is a small fee to park for the day so please bring money for that. On a typical Lake Sonoma trip, Clients will be picked up at the boat ramp between 7-7:30AM.
